Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said that Tehran recognizes Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan.
He made the statement in response to a request from journalists to comment on the so-called “elections” held by separatists in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan on September 9.
“Iran’s stance on Karabakh, which has been announced explicitly several times, is not secret. Karabakh is part of the Republic of Azerbaijan" Nasser Kanani said.
